Isabel hit with a fury. (This picture was taken from a ship - obviously.)Good thing it was a BIG ship!

It was amazing to watch and even more amazing to hear. Sounded a lot like freight trains running thru the neighborhood. I found out you just can't get good pictures of rain or wind on a digital camera. So the pictures had to wait until after the storm....

The power has been out for 5 days. Looking around the neighborhood cleared up any questions about what was taking so long.

There are 4 separate sets of lines down in this shot. They are tagged with ribbon and such to make driving under them easier.

I am one of the youngest people here, so Friday was spent on 4 roof tops and various yards besides my mom's clearing debris and trees. Here's a look at the neighbor's yard behind us.

And then there are the other houses here abouts.... The Urbanites have been very funny dealing with the lack of power. My grill here has been working just fine and the first 2 days were rather like the block parties we had when I was growing up in Guam - everyone pitched in and everyone got fed... no other choice really as the area is like a labyrinth to get out of here....

But there was really no reason to bother because the stores and restaurants had no power. When they finally did get power, they had no food to serve because everything had gone bad without refrigeration. The lines at the gas stations are finally getting shorter as more station have power to run their pumps. The Portsmouth tunnel only has one lane open and the mid-town tunnel is still under water.

However, we have power now and life in and around the area is slowly getting back to normal. All in all, after driving around and looking at the devastation, we are feeling quite blessed.
